For Canadians living in official-language minority communities, ensuring the survival and vitality of their language and culture is a daily act of resilience. The Government of Canada supports these communities by investing in local organizations that provide tools and opportunities to help their members learn, retain, and celebrate their language. Marie-France Lalonde, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages (FedDev Ontario and Official Languages), confirmed today that the Government of Canada invested $1.6 million in 2020–2021 program funding to 30 organizations in Southern Ontario. JOHN S, NL, May 20, 2021 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada continues to support its network of partners to enhance the vitality of official language minority communities, while also contributing to innovation and excellence. Marie-France Lalonde, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages (FedDev Ontario and Official Languages), announced the Government of Canada has invested $1.6 million in 2020-2021 in eight organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador. That represents a 33-percent funding increase since 2018, which goes directly to organizations in the province so they can play a greater role in maintaining the vitality of the Acadian and Francophone communities.
