Born in Jacksboro, also on the hilltop at Robert’s Branch, Mary Jean was the proud daughter of Allie and Lester Smith. Mary attended and graduated from Jacksboro High School. Mary met the love of her life, Conrad Harding, in Wichita Falls, while he was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base. They were married at the First United Methodist Church in Jacksboro on October 2, 1950. Mary Jean and Connie shared 50 years of marriage together before he passed in 2001. During those years they traveled the world. They had stories and keepsakes from every place they lived or traveled.
