HAIRDRESSERS across the city and county enjoyed a much-needed fillip as Covid-19 restrictions were eased earlier this week.
Across Limerick, men and women were in attendance at barber shops, with queues in some cases stretching down the street, as shops were allowed to open by appointment.
One of those barbers proving particularly popular was Kenny’s Barbers in Kilmallock, with Jean Tierney taking this picture of a growing line of customers just before opening-time.
KEYNOTES: Thompson family reunites after second vaccination dose
Rosemary Rimkus
Like families everywhere, the four generations of the family of Hudson residents Raymond and Muriel Thompson look forward to post-COVID, when they can again gather for special occasions. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 3, 2019, just before the pandemic struck, but they have been “masking and distancing” for over a year.
With Covid restrictions since March 2020, it has been impossible to visit, hug or see their little ones, or other family members. Recently both received their second vaccination, and were finally able to meet their newest grandchild, Halle, 3 1/2 months old, for the first time. Parents of seven daughters and one son, they now embrace 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Their children are Muriel, Frances, Eileen, Nora, twins Clare and Mary Anne, Raymond and Jeanne.
Taking the Kids and thinking about adventures past and to come in Alaska By Eileen Ogintz, Tribune Content Agency © Raymona Pooler/Dreamstime Kenai River in Alaska.
Hold on tight!
Not to the careening roller coaster that everyday life has become during this pandemic, but to the fishing pole, especially when you are fishing for halibut.
It s not easy to hold onto that pole or, at times, to normalcy these days. Stuck at home, reduced to virtual armchair travel, I ve been musing about lessons learned on past trips like the days we spent fishing last summer in Alaska. Besides, it s fun to think about good times and remind ourselves we will have fun traveling again.
