Ceremony replacing Memorial Day parade this year
LANCASTER - Organizers for the Lancaster Memorial Day parade have canceled the event this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While COVID-related restrictions across Ohio are beginning to fade, parade chair Mary Austin said the short notice didn t allow organizers to plan for a parade this year.
Instead, a special ceremony honoring fallen soldiers will take place on Memorial Day, May 31 at the Forest Rose Cemetery in Lancaster, located at 1238 N. Columbus St. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. that morning.
Austin said anyone who has questions about the event, or would like to have a loved one s name read during the ceremony, can call her at 740-407-7292.
