A mother whose daughter was murdered at a Girl Scout camp in Mayes County 44 years ago has been a force for change over the years for victims’ rights.
On the 40th anniversary of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, she’s still fighting to give victims a voice.
Sheri Farmer said losing her daughter Lori Farmer in 1977 changed her life forever, and she has spoken up since that day to make sure Lori s life will always matter.
Sheri said Lori was smart, strong, loving and the oldest of five kids. She loved when a new baby arrived. She was the quintessential oldest child, and she took care of everyone, said Sheri.
Store employees were caught in the middle of a nearly two-hour long standoff in Delaware County.
Mayes County Deputies are searching for a third suspect involved in an armed robbery and chase late last night.
Mayes County investigators said it all started when three suspects stole money from a woman at gunpoint at a home in Rose, Oklahoma. Then, the suspects drove East to Leach, Oklahoma.
Investigators said they eventually stopped at Twin Oaks Mart in Delaware County to get gas, but, when officers showed up, one of the suspects locked everyone inside the store for almost two hours. Just another day in the neighborhood in the gas station world, said Twin Oaks Mart Manager Skyler Ogle.

Officials said that two suspects are in custody after an armed robbery and short standoff.
The Mayes County Sheriff s office said that officers responded to a shots fired call at a home in Rose, Oklahoma that they said was an armed robbery. They said the suspects, a man and a woman, then barricaded themselves in a convenience store in Delaware County.
The Delaware County Undersheriff James Beck said after a standoff at the convenience store for an hour and half, the man left his hiding spot in the bathroom and surrendered to the Cherokee Nation Special Operations Team.

Tulsa Police arrested a convicted sex offender, accused of exposing himself at a school bus stop in front of several young children and a couple adults.
Steven Robinson was booked into jail for three counts of lewd proposal to a minor and two counts of indecent exposure. It happened near 21st and Mingo.
Police said Robinson denied the allegations.
Records show he was convicted in Mayes County in 2000 for lewd molestation. They show he was convicted again in 2011 and again in 2014 in Tulsa County for failing to register as a sex offender.
