Black Leaders Denounce Vandalism — The Sacramento Observer

Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce CEO Azizza Davis-Goines denounces local acts of vandalism. (By Russell Stiger, Jr.) SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce (SBCC) was joined by a host of local Black leadership groups denouncing the vandalism and threats at the home of Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg last week. During a press conference featuring administrators from the Sierra Health Foundation, Greater Sacramento Urban League, Sacramento Branch of the NAACP, Roberts Family Development Center, Genesis Church, and the South Sacramento Christian Center leaders discussed the issue of “peaceful protests” versus the “violence and vandalism” that has taken place over the last few months.

But advocates for the area’s homeless residents say there’s a larger divide between city and county leaders when it comes to providing emergency shelter during cold winter months one that was exposed last month when six unhoused people died in a powerful storm.
