Hoboken to increase parking meter rates in business districts
City also offers discounted parking options ×
Parking meter rates will increase to $0.50 per 15 minutes along Washington Street, 14th Street, First Street, River Street, and the Hoboken Terminal.
On March 5, Hoboken will increase parking meter rates in business districts, charging $0.50 for every 15 minutes.
According to the city, the new rate aims to increase parking availability by providing an 85 percent occupancy rate or a one-to-two parking space availability per block. The increased on-street parking also aims to reduce the number of double-parked cars that block roadways and bike lanes.
The new rates will take effect on Washington Street, 14th Street, First Street, River Street, and the Hoboken Terminal area.

The city held a virtual public meeting of the draft Vision Zero Action Plan on Jan. 13.
After months of planning and research, Hoboken released its draft Zero Action Plan that aims to eliminate all traffic-related injuries and deaths in Hoboken by 2030.
“Hoboken is committed to creating safer streets for all users, and our Vision Zero Action Plan will create the roadmap to make this a reality,” said Mayor Ravi Bhalla. “At the same time, we aren’t just waiting for the plan to achieve zero pedestrian injuries or fatalities; we’ve implemented a number of safety projects, including curb extensions across the City, five miles of new bike lanes, new traffic signals, a raised intersection next to Columbus Park, the Newark Street Complete Street Redesign, open and slow streets, and more. I look forward to building on this progress with our Vision Zero team in the weeks and months to come.”

98-year-old breast cancer survivor Antoinette Miller receives the COVID-19 vaccination at Hoboken University Medical Center.
Hoboken began its senior vaccination program at Hoboken University Medical Center this week with residents Richard Tremitiedi, Hoboken’s former fire chief, and 98-year-old breast cancer survivor Antoinette Miller the first two seniors in the state to receive the vaccine.
Hoboken is one of only a select few municipalities or counties in New Jersey to begin vaccinating seniors on the first day of eligibility, Jan. 14.
“I’m extremely proud that Hoboken is one of the first communities in New Jersey to begin vaccinating our seniors,” said Mayor Ravi Bhalla. “We are moving as quickly and efficiently as possible, to protect our elderly population and save lives. I encourage all seniors to sign up on our pre-registration form to receive the vaccine, which has been proven to be safe and effective by medical experts.”
