FRAMINGHAM Three candidates will face off in a preliminary mayoral election in September.
Charlie Sisitsky, Carlos Valadares and incumbent Mayor Yvonne Spicer have each returned their nomination paperwork to the City Clerk s Office and have had their papers certified, meaning they re set to appear on the ballot.
Under the city charter, a mayoral preliminary election will be held if more than two candidates complete nomination paperwork. The preliminary election is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 14. The top two finishers move on to the general election on Nov. 2.
Valadares, founder and CEO of the Brazilian Immigrants Family of America, was the first to return his papers, on July 8, followed by Sisitsky, a former city councilor and selectman, the next day.
