New mural paying tribute to legendary Limerick lady unveiled

Limerick s Live 95 Search By Amanda Flannery (via Draw Out) One of Limerick’s most memorable characters has been celebrated in a giant street mural unveiled in the heart of her hometown today. Legendary Limerick lady, Dodo Reddan (1922-1995), real name Hanora Quirke, was known by many for her two main passions in life - her love of dogs and rugby.  Now, Limerick City and County Council have funded a collaborated with Draw Out to bring to life a special tribute mural to one of Limerick s most recognisable people. Dodo was well-known around Limerick city for her pram full of dogs, and rescued countless strays dogs throughout her life. At the time of her death, she had been caring for 24 dogs.

There has been a volley of criticism this Friday evening across social media over the article on the business magazine s web site, which contained what Mayor Michael Collins described as a number of slurs about the Treaty City. OPW Minister and local TD Patrick O Donovan has also called on Forbes and writer Stephen McBride to apologise for the article, and has invited them to Limerick where I will gladly set the record straight in respect of what our city and county has to offer .

Limerick councillor drives home claim he was ‘muzzled’ during meeting Reporter: );   ); GREEN Party councillor Sean Hartigan has denied claims he was driving during a council meeting – and said the mayor “muzzled” him. During last week’s full council meeting, held virtually due to Covid-19 level 5 restrictions, it was noted by many members, including Mayor Michael Collins and Cllr Jerome Scanlan that Hartigan was in his car. “Ye must be driving home for Christmas,” the Independent Feohanagh councillor quipped, while Mayor Collins said afterwards: “If he was taking the meeting seriously, he wouldn’t have been in his car at the time.”
