Students Heading Into Grades 7-12 Encouraged To Apply For Mayor s Advisory Council on Youth

The Mayor’s Advisory Council on Youth is now accepting applications for the 2021/22 school year. Also known as MACOY, the group will have a voice on decisions that will affect today’s youth by advising Wood Buffalo council on services, programs, and issues. “Youth in our region are bright, energetic, and bring an important perspective to the issues and opportunities we face as a community,” said Mayor Don Scott.

YMM Airport One Of First In North America Recognized Internationally For Reducing Carbon Emissions

They’ve officially received level one certification from the Airports Council International – World’s Global Airport Carbon Accreditation program. Through its six levels of certification, the program acknowledges airports at different stages in their journey towards ‘comprehensive carbon management.’ The first recognizes proper ‘mapping’ for emission sources and levels. According to the YMM Airport, they’ve been able to cut emissions by 22 per cent since 2019. “We can only see that improving over time as we progress through each stage of the program,” said RJ Steenstra, President and CEO of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority.
