Really miraculous : Woman uninjured after collision between car, train near Mapleton

MAPLETON A 24-year-old woman was transported to the hospital after her car collided with a train near U.S. 89 and 2400 East on Friday, Mapleton City Fire Department said. According to the department, the crash occurred around 2 p.m. on Friday. The woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was transported by emergency responders to the hospital. Utah County Sheriff s Office Sgt. Spencer Cannon said that the woman was relatively uninjured in the accident. She was very fortunate, said Cannon. Really miraculous. The woman reportedly told officials she thought the train was traveling slower than it was. The train caught the back end of her car, leaving the woman relatively unscathed. According to Cannon, if the woman had been traveling half a second slower she likely would be dead.
