SINGAPORE: Ten Malaysians have joined a charity programme that delivers food to 4,000 people here during Ramadan.
The programme, a weekly mass iftar or breaking of fast, is organised by the Muslim Converts’ Association of Singapore (MCAS) for its members, Muslims of all backgrounds, volunteers and members of the public, every Saturday.
The programme has 200 volunteer riders, including the 10 Malaysian riders, delivering packed food to 1,000 beneficiaries per week.
One of the riders, Shahruddin Haeal Helmy Mohd Noh, said he and his friends often participated in various charity programmes back home, including distributing food during Ramadan last year.
“I found that many Singaporeans of various races have been distributing food and offering other assistance to Malaysians stranded in the republic for more than a year now, ” he said when met last Saturday.
