The good news this week was that the country’s vaccination program seemed to have shifted to a higher gear with 229,769 doses administered last May 20 the highest since we began the program in March. National Task Force against COVID-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. has expressed confidence that “we can breach the four million mark” by the end of the month. As of May 20, a total of 3,718,308 doses have been administered nationwide to priority groups: Healthcare workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities.
The bad news is that while this pace is an improvement it is by no means where we want to be. Secretary Galvez himself has admitted that “we are now moving past the crawl stage as we begin to walk.” Well, we need to run. I was reviewing my new website (www.mannyvillar.com.ph) that we recently launched. It is a beautiful website that includes information about myself and what we have built over the years in terms of our business. It is meant to inform but more importantly I hope it can inspire young people to pursue entrepreneurship as a vocation. What people see now the success, the accolades, etc., were not built in a day. I built it from the ground up with blood, sweat and tears. If you want to learn about the successful lives of others do not just focus on the finished product, rather look at the road he/she took. Look at the obstacles and challenges that person had to endure to become successful.

The Villar Group successfully conducted the first session of its webinar series that aims to educate its workforce about the COVID-19 vaccines and promote vaccination among its employees and their families.
The first webinar installment, “Know if CoVid-19 vaccine is right for you: Handa ka na bang magpabakuna?”, featured Dr. Lulu Bravo, Professor Emeritus, College of Medicine at the University of the Philippines Manila, the Founding President of the Philippine Foundation for Vaccination (PFV), and President of Immunization Partners in Asia Pacific (IPAP); and Dr. Eric Tayag, Director IV, Knowledge Management and Information Technology Service of the Department of Health, and Past President of PFV. The interactive webinar addressed the goals, safety, and benefits of vaccination, among others.

There has always been as debate whether successful entrepreneurs are born or made. It’s the classic nature versus nurture debate.
