There are a couple of bumper cards of racing on Saturday.
The highlight is in Shepparton, where it is Shepparton Pacing Cup Night. In Sydney, racing is in Menangle. Below are the best bets for the respective programs.
Bendigo
Best bet: Race 6, Number 7, McLovin
Reading this, it will come across as silly in saying $1.40 is overs. But really, on exposed form, McLovin is overs at $1.40. His win last Saturday in the Maori Mile was unbelievable given the work he did yet he still fended them off. This horse draws wide, but should press forward, find the front, and just win. He really should be $1.10 against this lot.
For a guy who didn’t arrive until four months ago, Todd McCarthy continues to impress in harness racing’s toughest driver colony stateside.
The 27-year-old McCarthy continued to do good things since his arrival from Australia, winning four times on the Friday night card at The Meadowlands.
The five-time driving champion at Australia’s Menangle Racetrack finished second at the recently concluded Fall Big M Meeting, ending up just four winners behind leading pilot Dexter Dunn, the native New Zealander who won 46 races.
Break The Deal got McCarthy’s big Friday off to a good start in the opener, taking a low-end fillies and mares pace in 1:52.4 as the 8-5 favourite for trainer Tom Shay before recording three more victories with non-chalks.

Best bet: Race 5, No. 1 Dance Craze
I think even money or thereabouts is a fair enough price for this classy mare. She looks the leader and I think will get total control from in front and prove too good. Mind you, she has been beaten recently when leading, but to counter that, she has run some very sharp early splits that have dulled her finale. I doubt they will go that hard early this time around, and should she hold the lead, which I think she will, the race will be over.

Up-and-coming youngsters
Three promising young pacers to win at Boxing Day meetings on the eastern seaboard were Pelosi, Letterkenny Boy and Our Road To Mecca, who all belong to the same family.
Pelosi, who won at Albion Park and has now won 12 of her 24 starts, is a three-year-old filly by
American Ideal from the Life Sign mare For Dear Life 1:55.8 ($322,331), a thrice Group 1 winner.

Letterkenny Boy, also a winner at Albion Park, is a four-year-old by Art Major from Postmark (2:00.3), dam of the Victoria Derby heat winner Major Post 1:52.6 ($177,026) and Missing Letters 1:53.7 ($123,410). Postmark was a Fake Left mare from the Monarch Hanover mare Irish Mail, the dam of the top flight filly Express Post (1:57.6) and the grand-dam of Our Road To Mecca, who scored at Ballarat on the same night as Pelosi and Letterkenny Boy won.
