Sending letter leads to jail for Carlisle man

Trouble: Posting a letter got the defendant into trouble MAGISTRATES have jailed a 44-year-old Carlisle man for six weeks after he admitted flouting a restraining order. Matthew Adam Neale, whose address was given as The County Hotel, Botchergate, breached the order by sending a letter from Acklington - though the charge does not say to whom it was addressed. The letter was in breach of a restraining order that was imposed by magistrates in Carlisle on July 22 last year, the court heard. Magistrates said the offence was so serious because it amounted to a deliberate breach of the court order involved. The defendant s guilty plea was taken into account.
