The Mumbai Monorail Phase-2 starting from Santh Ghadge Maharaj (SGM) Chowk to Wadala was commissioned on March 3, 2019 completing two years on Wednesday. However, the problem of poor ridership persist due to limited rakes and prevailing pandemic situation. Currently only 5,000 ridership is counted in a day. Less than the pre-covid time period ridership, which was between over 10,000-17,000 per day.
The entire 19.54 kilometers from SGM Chowk to Chembur is operational in a graded manner at a time gap of 30 minutes each. There are total six rakes in working condition, but three rakes are used rotationally. The monorail service is available from 6am till 11:30pm.

These rakes would be made at three production units of railways â 24 at the ICF in Chennai, 10 at Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala and the remaining 10 at Modern Coach Factory in Raebareli, as per the contract.
After 22 months of launching Vande Bharat Express for Katra, Indian Railways has awarded the prestigious contract for manufacturing of 44 more such trains at an estimated cost of Rs 2,211 crore.
In what could be described as a major push to the Make in India initiative, the Hyderabad-based Medha Servo Drives bagged the contract for making 44 Vande Bharat trains with 16 coaches each.

Ltd. for procurement of equipment for manufacturing additional rakes of Vande Bharat train sets. The contract awarded by the Indian Railways to the firm is for design and manufacturing of propulsion, control and other equipment for making 44 rakes, having sixteen cars each, of Vande Bharat train sets, according the railway ministry.
