The 2021 league year is set to begin March 17 and the Dolphins currently have 13 players scheduled to become unrestricted free agents.
The list is headed by veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and also includes running back Matt Breida and defensive tackle Davon Godchaux.
Here s a look at those 13 players, with a quick evaluation on their standing on the team and our best guess as to whether the likelihood of their return is strong, moderate or slim, understanding that salary demands obviously will factor into every decision (players listed in order of 2020 salary):
You back? And divorced? Great. You really shouldn’t have wasted all that time reading a pile of junk from a dude who’d struggle to write a stop sign.
So what is this nonsense, no one asks? This is my weird little corner of the multiverse where I cosplay as an NFL General Manager and pretend I’m not just a cat tracking the sinking sun across a keyboard. I don’t suggest what the Dolphins should do, and I most definitely don’t predict what they’re going to do. This is just my own special way of distracting you while I sneak into your house and eat all your snacks. Don’t check the pantry. I filled it with bees.

Being a placekicker in today’s NFL is one of the most high-pressure jobs not just in football, but in all of sports. So how exactly does one go from kicking soccer balls in high school to nailing 50+-yard field goals with an entire NFL organization’s success on the line? I sat down Brent Grablachoff, Miami Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders’ personal kicking coach, to find out.
2021 Offseason Outlook: Linebackers
So much of the conversation about the future of the Miami Dolphins revolves around Tua Tagovailoa and the offense, but this team s early success came from the stellar play of their defense. Josh Boyer s (and Flo s) squad improved from the worst scoring defense in the NFL (30.9 ppg) to sixth (21.1 ppg). So, how did they do it? Chris Grier spent an exorbitant amount of money building up this side of the ball through free agency. They are now in the advantageous position of returning ten of their eleven starters on defense. With the cap shrinking for the 2021 season, they won t have a ton of money (they are projected to have just 25 million in cap space) to spend improving the defense. Though, a couple small-scale signings could go a long way towards adding depth in a few key positions. What follows is a break down, by position group, of the defense and what we can expect moving forward.
