MBB Preview: Arkansas at Vanderbilt

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas will compile even more frequent flyer miles with a trip to Vanderbilt this weekend. The Razorbacks and Commodores will meet for the 51st time in the series on Saturday (Jan. 23) with tipoff set for Noon. The game will be televised on SEC Network. Arkansas leads the all-time series, 38-12, including six straight wins and winning 10 of the last 11. Vanderbilt leads 8-7 in games played in Memorial Gym. With its game at Vanderbilt Saturday, Arkansas opens SEC play with five of its first eight on the road. Add a game at Oklahoma State (SEC/Big 12 Challenge) to close the month of January, the Hogs are in the midst of playing six of 10 games on the road.

FAYETTEVILLE – After back-to-back road games, Arkansas returns to Bud Walton Arena to host Auburn on Wednesday (Jan. 20). Tipoff is set for 8 pm and the game will be televised on SEC Network. Arkansas leads 21-5 versus Auburn in games played in Fayetteville. Arkansas defeated Auburn, 97-85, in the teams’ SEC opener on Dec. 30 at Auburn. Desi Sills scored a career-high 23 points and JD Notae added 21. Overall, five Razorbacks scored in double figures with Connor Vanover adding 17, Moses Moody 16 and Jalen Tate 12. Despite back-to-back road losses, Arkansas ranks 35th in the NCAA NET and the Razorbacks are one of five SEC teams in the NCAA NET top 35.

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas plays the second of back-to-back road games Saturday with a trip to Alabama Saturday (Jan. 16). The game is set to begin at 2:30 pm (CT) and will be televised on SEC Network. This will be the 64th meeting between Arkansas and Alabama and 54th since the Razorbacks joined the SEC. Arkansas leads the all-time series, 35-28, and is 28-25 versus the Crimson Tide since joining the SEC. Alabama owns a 20-8 advantage in games played in Tuscaloosa. However, Arkansas has won six straight and seven of the last eight in the series overall. The Razorbacks dropped nine spots in the NCAA NET to #29 after the loss at LSU. Alabama is #22 in the NCAA NET. Of Arkansas’ first six league games, four are ranked among the NCAA NET Top 30.
