Eagles NFL Draft Preview: Edge Rushers
The Eagles will likely try to bolster their pass rush in the first two days of the draft

PHILADELPHIA - The Eagles value edge rushers more than most positions on the roster and there is an obvious need as the draft approaches with Brandon Graham turning 33 earlier this month, Derek Barnett and Josh Sweat both entering contract years, and Vinny Curry returning to his native North Jersey with the New York Jets.
Typically that would mean edge rusher would be in play at No. 12 overall and perhaps even the clubhouse leader for an organization that has taken either a quarterback, offensive lineman, or defensive lineman every time it has been in the top half of the first round over the past two decades.

The Eagles could look a lot different next season. With several veterans likely to be cut and a potential draft pick in the top 10, the front office already has decided which players will stay and which players will be sent packing after a disappointing season that failed to deliver a postseason berth even in the NFC East, the NFL’s weakest division.
Remember that
report from last week about how DeSean Jackson whom you may have forgotten was on the team was still hoping to play this season?
Well, the Philadelphia Eagles officially activated Jackson’s 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve on Monday afternoon.
We previously wrote some thoughts about
It’s hard to care much about a Jackson return when the season is likely lost. Don’t want to see Jackson returning and taking snaps away from Jalen Reagor / Quez Watkins / Travis Fulgham.
It’s hard to care much about a Jackson return when the 34-year-old is likely to get hurt again if/when he’s back on the field.
Eagles make three moves at safety
More depth.
The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced three moves at the safety position on Wednesday afternoon. An overview:
S Rodney McLeod placed on injured reserve.
S Elijah Riley promoted from practice squad to active roster.
S Blake Countess signed to practice squad.
Let’s sort through this on a player-by-player basis.
RODNEY MCLEOD
McLeod suffered an ACL tear during Sunday’s win over the New Orleans Saints. Pretty unfortunate since he was playing well and hadn’t missed a snap all season long.
McLeod’s injury impacts the Eagles in both the short-term in the long-term.
