Financial markets regulator shifts to Azure with Datacom

Among a slew of technology projects, the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) shifted its entire workflow to Microsoft Azure during lockdown with no downtime or disruption.
Referred to internally as the Azure IaaS lift and shift project, the effort was part of the financial market regulator s digital transformation programme, initiated at the request of FMA s audit and risk committee in response to concerns over cyber security.

Dicker Data is joining Microsoft s stable of distributors for Microsoft Surface devices in the New Zealand market.
Dicker Data will distribute the complete range of Microsoft Surface products including Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, Surface Book and Surface Studio from 3 May.
Vlad Mitnovetski, executive director and chief operating officer of Dicker Data, said the company s relationship with Microsoft in Australia and New Zealand continued to grow because of the distributor s local knowledge and partner network, which made it easier for vendors to connect with the right partners.

Microsoft NZ is signing around five new software-as-a-service (SaaS) partners a month, driving business for its Azure cloud and creating a virtuous circle for partners and their customers as well.
Partner director Matt Bostwick says while the company has a traditional channel and a SaaS channel, they are not incompatible.
Some traditional channel partners, consultancies and service providers, are also becoming SaaS partners, spurred in part by the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic.
