After five players exited the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols on Saturday, the Devils are one step closer to resuming their season.
The team will practice on Monday, marking the first team activity in two weeks after COVID-19 issues put a pause on the Devils’ schedule.
The Devils still have 13 players in the league’s protocols, but more players are expected to be activated before Monday’s practice. Players who still appear on the list on Sunday could participate on Monday if they are cleared prior to practice.

Even before the Devils’ season paused due to COVID-19 issues, the team never got a look at a full lineup.
Nico Hischier missed every game while rehabbing from his offseason leg injury. Jesper Bratt missed the first six games as he waited for his work visa and quarantined after signing his new contract. Sami Vatanen dealt with the same issues, and he’s still waiting to make his season debut.
New Jersey Devils forwards Kyle Palmieri and Pavel Zacha were both removed from the NHL's COVID-19 list on Wednesday, dropping the team to 17 players on the league's protocols.
