If it’s going to end anywhere for the Masconomet Regional High School baseball team (13-6), it may as well be here at Fraser Field on this early-summer night with St. Mary’s of Lynn as the opponent.
That was the matchup Monday night, June 28: Masconomet vs. St. Mary’s for the Division 2 North championship with the winner advancing to the state championship game.
St. Mary’s won, 2-0, ending Masconomet’s season after three postseason victories.
Why not the Chieftains and Spartans in the state semifinals? They’ve been the class of the North Shore when it comes to this division: St. Mary’s won the 2019 Division 2 state title; Masconomet lost in the 2018 Division 2 North finals; St. Mary’s won the Division 3 state title in 2015; Masconomet won the Division 2 state title in 2014; Masconomet won the Division 2 North title in 2013 and lost in EMass finals; and St. Mary’s lost in the Division 3 North finals in 2013.
