Both Drivers Injured in I-94 Crash Near Freeport

Courtesy of Jen Lahmann Update, 3 p.m.: The MnDOT 511 traffic webpage indicates that the lane closure and detour on I-94 near Freeport has been cleared. As of noon, the eastbound lanes of I-94 at exit 140 near Freeport are still closed, but westbound is open. The Minnesota State Patrol says around 9:15 Wednesday morning, a Kenworth semi truck was traveling eastbound and was slowing due to traffic backup stemming from a fatal four-vehicle crash near Albany that the state patrol says happened around 8 a.m. When the semi was slowing down, it was rear-ended by a GMC Yukon. The 38-year-old female driver of the Yukon was sent to St. Cloud Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 26-year-old male driver of the semi suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both parties were wearing their seatbelts, and the state patrol says alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Two crashes on Interstate Highway 94 caused the closure of eastbound traffic between Albany and Melrose on Wednesday morning and early afternoon.  The first crash took place around 8 a.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The incident type is listed as fatal in the report.  A second crash took place around 9:15 a.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol. It was about four miles east of the first crash and caused life-threatening injuries.  Details of the first crash have not been released. The second crash took place when a semi truck was slowing to a stop due to traffic and a large SUV rear-ended it, according to the crash report.

State Patrol: Motorcycle Driver Hurt in Two Vehicle Crash LITTLE FALLS A Little Falls man was hurt when the motorcycle he was driving was struck from behind by a car. The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened just after 2:30 p.m. Monday on Highway 27 at Game Farm Road in Little Falls Township. Sixty-six-year-old Craig Pooler of Little Falls was driving east when he slowed to make a left turn and was rear-ended by a car. The driver of the car was a 16-year-old girl.  She was not hurt.  Her name and hometown have not been released by the State Patrol.

Knife Assault Under Investigation

Pixabay (KNSI) – A person was attacked with a knife in Waite Park. Police were called to the 500-block of Park Meadows Drive around 8:30 on Sunday night. Investigators found the suspect had fled the scene, and the victim was being taken to St. Cloud Hospital after being cut with a knife. The victim was driven to the emergency room by a friend. Police found the victim was suffering from a severe laceration. The injury wasn’t considered life-threatening. The victim was treated and released. Police say the suspect is known to them, and their name will be released once the suspect is in custody.

A silent auction will begin at 3 pm, and the spaghetti dinner will be from 4-6:30 pm. The dinner costs $8. Mind you, all the proceeds of this fundraiser will go to Ed and his family to help with medical expenses. In November of 2019, Ed suffered a small stroke. He was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital, though he was released a week later. Unfortunately, within days of being home, Ed suffered a major stroke. He was then taken to St. Mary s Hospital in Rochester and was diagnosed with a Bilateral Dissection of the Carotid Artery.
