THUNDER BAY – Boomer’s Drive-In Theatre will return in 2021.
Grand Slam Sports and Entertainment, owners of the Thunder Bay Border Cats, said they’ll be offering up movies when provincial reopening restrictions permit drive-in movies to resume.
“We’re extremely excited to return this year and continue our great partnership with the Murillo Fairgrounds,” said company president David Valente.
“During this pandemic, being able to offer the residents of the Thunder Bay area an enjoyable night out in a unique setting, was an experience we wanted to continue in 2021. Using a LED video screen allows great flexibility for show times, including for groups wishing to book private events.”

Thunder Bay – NEWS – Alden William AKIS, 22, of Thunder Bay, faces charges of Possession of Child Pornography. Thunder Bay Police arrested the 22-year-old Thunder Bay man amid an investigation into possession of child pornography.
The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Cyber Crime Unit learned files linked to child pornography were being uploaded by a local Internet user on Saturday, December 12, 2020. Further investigation identified a local suspect and confirmed the files in question were consistent with child pornography.
Cyber Crime Unit investigators, with assistance from the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Community Oriented Response (COR) Unit and the OPP, executed a search warrant at a residential address in the 500 block of Cloud Lake Road on Thursday, December 17, 2020.
