No 1 Gators Enter Final Home Meet Against No 18 Auburn

The Tigers Since losing to the Gators at home in week one, the Tigers have had an up-and-down season. Following the opening meet, Auburn lost its’ next four meets in a row, all to SEC opponents including Kentucky, Alabama, LSU and Missouri. However, the team’s fortunes improved last week, as they secured their first win of the season over the Georgia Bulldogs in front of their home crowd. Florida Gators gymnastics defeated Kentucky despite being shorthanded

Special report on the Florida Gators gymnastics: GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The top-ranked Gators stepped up to the challenge for missing teammates, winning tonight’s dual meet 197.50 – 196.875 over No. 15 Kentucky Friday in front of physically-distanced sellout Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center crowd of 2,182. COVID-19 protocols presented a challenge for Florida tonight. Gator gymnasts who performed eight routines in last Friday’s win at No. 2 LSU – Sydney Johnson-Scharpf, Nya Reed, Savannah Schoenherr and Trinity Thomas – were sidelined tonight due to COVID 19 tests and contact tracing. That COVID 19 protocol circle also included Gator coach Jenny Rowland and Volunteer Coach Jeremy Miranda.

Handicapped No 1 Gator Gymnastics Top No 15 Wildcats

The number one ranked Florida gymnastics team entered its meet against the number 15 Kentucky Wildcats amid uncertainty; earlier on Friday, the team had announced that multiple people involved with the team were ruled unable to attend the meet due to COVID-19 protocols. In a meet just one week after their headline-stealing win against LSU, the Gators topped the ‘Cats, 197.500-196.875. Losses due to COVID The COVID restrictions that were announced prevented a number of both coaches and players from attending the meet at the O’Connell Center. Included were Gator head coach Jenny Rowland, Assistant Coach Jeremy Miranda, and a plethora of gymnasts: juniors Sydney Johnson-Scharpf, Nya Reed, Savannah Schoenherr, and Trinity Thomas. The four gymnasts accounted for almost 80 of the Gators 198 points in their last meet against LSU.
