No official meeting was able to be held after three Village Trustees were absent from the meeting. State statute requires a quorum of four of the six-member board be in attendance for an official meeting to be legally held. Trustees Megan Davidson, Jason Hill, and Paula Belobrajdic-Stewart as well as Village Clerk Krystin Hill were absent from the Village Hall at the stated meeting hour of 7:00 pm.

New tipping fee on construction waste approved for Reno County landfill Starting in January, residents hauling construction or demolition waste to the Reno County landfill will have to begin paying a minimum $10 per trip fee. The Reno County Commission approved the new tipping fee on Tuesday. The board also OK d a hike in an annual assessment on commercial and industrial businesses. Both are to support anticipated increased costs for operating the landfill in the future. The new fee on construction and demolition waste or C&D will be $10 per ton, with a minimum of $10 per load. The fee does not apply to the disposal of brush, household trash, metal debris such as appliances, or tires.

Scooter s holds grand opening in Vermillion

Tuesday, Scooter’s Coffee had a ribbon-cutting ceremony to finally celebrate its grand opening. The location’s owner, Travis Rhoades, said that he thought the turnout was great and that the event was a reflection of how the community wants to support each other. The Vermillion Area Chamber and Development Company (VCDC) Director of Strategic Communications and Tourism, Megan Davidson, said that Scooter’s had the grand opening due to the lifting of restrictions on COVID-19. “We scheduled the ribbon cutting due to restrictions lifting a little bit. People are coming back to in-person events, and the weather is getting a bit nicer,” Davidson said. “Scooter’s will join the VCDC, which is a membership organization. We provide our official members with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome them to the membership”
