A wildfire that has burned nearly 120 square miles in central Arizona has destroyed two homes and three outbuildings as it continues to spread.
As firefighters continue to battle the Telegraph Fire near the town of Superior, Arizona, they re running into problems with the public entering closed areas and their own equipment creating sparks in the extremely dry brush. Even our own fire equipment is starting fires, Dean McAlister, a fire information officer, said during a briefing Tuesday night. The blades and the tracks of the (heavy equipment) sparking against the fuels have actually created some fires along the fire line.
Telegraph, Mescal Fires Burn Over 140,000 Acres, Prompt New Evacuations

In Arizona, two fires have burned more than 140,000 acres of land and forced numerous evacuations, as firefighters continue to try and contain both.
On Wednesday, fire officials reported on the national InciWeb wildfire information system, that the Telegraph Fire had burned approximately 76,260 acres and was 18 percent contained. Additionally, data from the InciWeb system showed that the Mescal Fire, which is located just east of the Telegraph Fire, had burned approximately 70,066 acres and was 23 percent contained.
The Telegraph Fire grew by nearly 20,000 acres in just two days, as on Monday it was estimated to be around 56,626 acres of land in Arizona s Top-of-the-World neighborhood. A wildfire burning southeast of Globe has increased to 66,913 acres. It is 23% contained as of June 8.
GLOBE, Ariz. - A wildfire burning southeast of Globe has increased to 70,066 acres. It is 23% contained as of June 9.
Airtankers and helicopters were assisting more than 500 firefighters who continued to work the Mescal Fire about 12 miles (19 km) southeast of Globe.
Fire officials lifted evacuation orders for residents of the community of San Carlos and in the areas of Soda Canyon and Coyote Flats. But the community of East El Capitan was still on mandatory evacuation.
