This year’s regatta season will start next week with the Cardinal Invitational in Oak Ridge. That rowing competition with the University of Louisville is scheduled from March 13-14 at Melton Lake Park.
Other rowing events will begin in late April and run almost every weekend through May, a press release said.
This year, the Oak Ridge Rowing Association will host, for the first time, the NCAA Division I American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship, the press release said.
COVID-19 updates on city facilities

With the public health situation rapidly changing, here are the latest updates affecting city facilities in Oak Ridge.
City officials strongly urge citizens to conduct their business over the phone and by mail whenever possible, a city news release from City Manager Mark Watson stated.
The city of Oak Ridge is supporting the “Tennessee Pledge” efforts by the state government. Refer to State of Tennessee websites for updates and advice on precautions to be taken by particular businesses.
City facilities will continue to be operated as below. The release said the precautions allow for the safety of employees and “social distancing” for customers. Visitors may receive a temperature scan and inquiry about their current health. Call the city manager’s office or department offices on the city’s website for further information.

The section of South Illinois Avenue between Bethel Valley Road and Lafayette Drive remains closed after a crash knocked over a high-voltage transmission tower on Friday afternoon, the Oak Ridge Police Department said Saturday morning.
The ORPD posted a roadway update at 10 a.m. Saturday. Officers advised drivers to seek alternate routes and expect delays.
Police expect the road to remain closed throughout the evening. Both northbound and southbound lanes are blocked.
