With the public health situation is rapidly changing, here are the latest updates affecting city facilities from Oak Ridge City Manager Mark Watson.
“City officials strongly urge citizens to conduct their business over the phone and by mail whenever possible,” a city news release stated.
The city of Oak Ridge is supporting the “Tennessee Pledge” efforts by the state government. The news release encouraged people to refer to State of Tennessee websites for updates and advice on precautions to be taken by particular businesses.
City facilities will continue to be operated as below for the safety of city employees and “social distancing” for city customers. Visitors may receive a temperature scan and inquiry about their current health. Call the city manager’s office or department offices on the city’s website for further information.

The parking lots at Melton Lake Park will be closed to the public during a regatta next week.
The regatta, the 2021 Oak Ridge Louisville Cardinal Invitational Regatta, is scheduled on Saturday, March 13, and Sunday, March 14. It’s hosted by the City of Oak Ridge in partnership with the Oak Ridge Rowing Association, a press release said.
It’s an invitation-only event, and it will feature elite college women’s rowing teams who will compete in one of the first events of the season, the press release said.

If you ve visited Melton Lake Park in the last few months, you’ve likely noticed a new piece of artwork developing on the side of the Rowing Association s boathouse. The mural, which was painted by local artist Megan Lingerfelt, was completed in December and a ribbon-cutting was held. She worked with Explore Oak Ridge, which is in charge of the city’s tourism efforts, and several other members of the Oak Ridge community to come up with the design and bring it to life.
