TOKYO (Reuters) â Nothing at the Olympics is certain, but the prospect of Adam Peaty winning the 100 metres breaststroke gold in Tokyo is about as close to it as it gets.
The Briton has set the world record five times and clocked all but one of the 20 fastest times in history, four of those this year, and according to his coach, thereâs not much that can stop him.
âI wouldnât want to race him at the minute,â coach Mel Marshall told Reuters on Saturday.
âHeâs prepared well, heâs prepared continuously. Weâve arrived off that preparation in peak physical shape, peak psychological shape, peak spiritual shape and weâll see what that gives us.â

Who are Team GB s athletes to watch
Team GB will be represented by its largest ever delegation for an Olympic Games on foreign soil, with 376 athletes and a further 22 reserve athletes set to compete across 26 sports at the Tokyo 2020 Games. It is second only to the 541 athletes selected for the London Olympics in 2012.
For the first time in its 125-year history, Team GB will also be taking more women than men to a summer Olympic Games.
Of the 376 athletes selected, Team GB is taking 201 female (53.5%) and 175 male athletes (46.5%) to Tokyo thanks to impressive qualification performances from British female athletes across sports and an increased number of female events at the Games.
