Unions are fighting for all workers in MIQ hotels to be given the living wage.
The Government has promised it will make the living wage the minimum for all managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) workers, but it is unclear when that will begin. Sydney, Feb 5 : Former Australia captain Lisa Sthalekar has been inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, Cricket Australia informed on Friday.
Sthalekar s career included eight Tests, 125 ODIs and 54 T20IS for Australia from 2001-13, scoring almost 4,000 runs (3,913-including three centuries) before retiring from the game after the 2013 World Cup win in Mumbai.
She was member of four Australian World Cup-winning teams across the ODI and T20 formats and captained Australia in three ODIs against New Zealand in 2006. The 41-year-old was named Women s International Cricketer of the Year in 2007, and was awarded the Belinda Clark Medal-recognising Australia s best women s international cricketer - in 2007 and 2008. Waitaki destination management strategy project manager and facilitator Mel Jones said the government funded several regional tourism organisations in New Zealand to put together a destination strategy and plan, and Waitaki was beginning with a strategy, which would lead to a plan at a later date.
Two groups – a governance and a working group – formed to paint a clear picture of what was needed.
About 15 people were in the governance group, chaired by Waitaki Mayor Gary Kircher, and were all involved in key agencies throughout the district, including tourism operators, members of the business community, iwi members and the Department of Conservation.
