(Provided photo) SARANAC LAKE In a small private gathering last week at Dewey Mountain, Tom Boothe was posthumously awarded the Don Duso “Citizen of the Year” award. The award goes to a community member who has shown significant contribution to the community of Saranac Lake and its surrounding areas. Tom Boothe passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 30, 2020, and Betty Boothe, Tom’s wife of 48 years, was present to receive the recognition.
Dec 14, 2020 SARANAC LAKE The Saranac Lake Police Review Committee has compiled a master document to track its progress and keep the public informed as it continues preparing its plan for the village Board of Trustees, in accordance with Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Order 203. Additionally, the committee has scheduled its third virtual public forum, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17. Committee members have also been meeting with specific community groups to continue collecting input. “Our work to meet the requirements of the governor’s executive order is on track,” Trustee Melinda Little said in a press release. “We are in the process of drafting recommendations that meet specific aspects of the state’s guidance and are working to propose additional programs based on public feedback we’ve received. We will present our plan to the village board by January or early February with the aim of sending an a
