Melissa Lawrence, 40, was killed, in the crash.
Louisiana State Police arrived at the scene on Louisiana Highway 162 west of Linton Road a little before 1:45 a.m. on Sunday to find a two-vehicle crash.
The initial investigation revealed that Juwan Wells, 23, of Shreveport, was traveling in a 2014 Mazda SUV when his vehicle crossed the centerline and struck the 2010 Dodge Caravan head-on.
Wells and the driver of the Caravan sustained moderate injuries. Lawrence, the passenger in the Caravan, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A toxicology sample from Wells were obtained and submitted. Wells was suspected to be impaired. This crash is under investigation.

NORFOLK, Va. Experts say there have been more domestic violence cases across Hampton Roads during this pandemic.
On February 3, Chesapeake Police found Sammi Jo Burkhart, 37, shot in the 1600 block of Chesapeake Avenue. She later died at the hospital. On Friday, officers captured Mark O Leary, 40, after a two-day search.
Chesapeake Police said O Leary is charged with armed burglary, abduction, first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
