Families plead for tips on 1-year anniversary of deadly shooting on I-75
Jordan Bowen reports
SARASOTA, Fla. - The families of two best friends are pleading with the public to find their killer, one year after someone opened fire on Interstate 75 in Sarasota County.
On July 16, 2020, 26-year-old Reggie Wilson Jr. and 25-year-old Zack Yancy were driving on I-75 when shots were fired from another vehicle, killing them both. No arrests were ever made.
For Melissa Thomas, the last year has been filled with sleepless nights, knowing her son’s killer is still at large. The families of Reggie Wilson, Jr. and Zack Yancy are now asking anyone who knows anything to come forward.

A studentâs household income usually must meet income eligibility requirements for free or reduced-price meals.Â
The U.S. Department of Agriculture however is continuing reimbursing schools for free meals as part of extended waivers issued during the pandemic when campuses were closed.
Typically, districts are only reimbursed for free meals for students who are in the USDAâs National School Lunch Program.
NBISD in a press release said income eligibility requirements will likely resume for the 2022-2023 school year.Â
On July 26, the district will distribute letters about 2022-2023 eligibility benefits and how households can apply.
For this, the district will process household applications during the 2021-2022 school year so students can receive free or reduced-price meals during the first 30 days of 2022-2023.Â
