Many roads in and around Stuttgart were closed Tuesday afternoon following a couple of hours of heavy rain. Streets that were impacted within the city included 10th Street, Main Street, Buerkle Street, Lennox Road, and Park Avenue. The Stuttgart Police Department issued a statement Tuesday asking residents to stay home if at all possible. Fire Chief Jimmy Cason said the department rescued one resident when her home flooded and she couldn’t get out on her own.

Renee Robison, executive director of the Grand Prairie Center, said the original architectural firm, SCM Architects of Little Rock, has been brought in to develop a list of everything that needs to be completed in the building.

Racers get muddy to raise money for cancer programs in Saturday s Endure the Dirt 5K

Chance Jackson was the overall winner of Saturday’s Endure the Dirt race with a time of 28:42. (Photo by Melissa Cason) The third Endure the Dirt 5K Adventure Run was held Saturday just north of Mack’s Prairie Wings in Stuttgart. The event brings awareness to the cancer journey while raising money for the local nonprofit organization Personal Pep Rally to provide services for cancer patients nationwide. Leslie Bednar, event committee chair, said the event had over 300 entries this year with about half of those entries participating virtually through the Now We Sprint 25-mile Run. While the in-person event was smaller than the one planned last year, which was canceled due to the pandemic, this year’s Endure the Dirt was successful at bringing the community together to raise money to benefit those with cancer.
