A new large scale Covid-19 vaccination centre is opening in south Norfolk on Sunday.
The centre at the old Paddock Road Surgery in Harleston provides an additional option to the large scale vaccination centres already delivering vaccines in Kings Lynn, Norwich, Attleborough, North Walsham and Lowestoft; and the hubs already delivering vaccinations in local hospitals and by GP surgeries.
Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust is co-ordinating centres across Norfolk and Waveney. Its medical director Dr David Vickers said: “The centres are capable of delivering thousands of vaccines a week and provide a major boost to our plans to offer protection to those who would benefit most as quickly as possible.
COVID-19 vaccination programme in Norfolk continues at rapid pace
| Updated: 13:10, 05 February 2021
The COVID-19 vaccination programme in Norfolk continues at pace and at scale as it was revealed that 22 percent of people aged over 16 have now received a first dose of vaccine, ranking third out of 42 health systems in England.
Data published today by NHS England and NHS Improvement also shows that Norfolk and Waveney has vaccinated 91% of over 80s, ranking 18th out of health systems in England.
However, NHS Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) understands this figure is higher due to a lag in the reporting of data.
There is also a reminder for people to refrain from contacting their surgery, and instead wait patiently to receive a phone call, text or appointment letter. Please do not contact your GP, the letter continues. You will get an appointment for a vaccine, it will just take a few weeks before we are able to contact everyone. We are asking people to be patient and wait for their invitation as health services are incredibly busy at the moment and we are not able to answer enquiries about the vaccine programme.

More large scale Covid-19 immunisation centres are due to be launched in the region in the coming days as part of the biggest vaccination programme in the history of the NHS.
So far, the area has 26 different sites offering jabs to protect against coronavirus, including Norfolk s three main hospitals.
