According to the latest Government hotspots map, only one neighbourhood in the borough recorded three or more cases in the week to April 29. Old Heath and Rowhedge recorded three cases in this period, the highest number in the borough. The rest of the area has recorded less than three, meaning the virus is classed as suppressed in these areas. They are not recorded on the hotspots map any longer. COLCHESTER S average coronavirus infection rate continues to fall, but Tendring s has almost doubled in the space of a week, latest figures show. According to the latest data in the week to April 22, Colchester s average infection rate was 11.8 cases per 100,000 people. There were 23 cases of Covid confirmed in this seven day period. The rate has dropped slightly from 14.4 cases per 100,000 people a week earlier. However, Tendring s average infection rate is now 25.9 cases per 100,000 people. This is because there were 28 cases confirmed during this week. The district s infection rate a wee earlier was 13.6 cases per 100,000 people. Almost half, or 47 per cent, of authorities in England have seen a week-on-week rise in their Covid rate, the latest figures show.

THE parts of Colchester which have seen the fewest number of Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began have been revealed. A total of seven parts of the borough have each seen fewer than 400 infections over the entire pandemic - the past twelve months. Gazette analysis of Public Health England data has found almost each of the seven areas had seen the equivalent of just one confirmed case per day. Most recent figures, published on Thursday, shows the picture in every single neighbourhood between April 2020 and April 2021. The data is broken down by individual neighbourhoods, what are officially known as Middle Super Output Area, areas with an average population of 7,200.
