Four s a crowd but good drama in outer space drama Stowaway

Not rated That’s the set-up for “Stowaway,” which looks like a sci-fi thriller but unfolds like a straightforward moral play. It’s a simple numbers game: someone’s gotta go. But how do you measure the value of a life under extreme circumstances? Zoe (Anna Kendrick), Marina (Toni Collette) and David (“Lost’s” Daniel Dae Kim) are the small crew on a two-year journey headed to Mars. Not long into their mission, a member of the launch crew, Michael (Shamier Anderson), is discovered inside one of the ship’s panels; turns out he was knocked unconscious during lift-off and was trapped on board. And now it’s a little late for him to step off the ship, so he pitches in and helps out where he can.

Stowaway ending explained on Netflix

Stowaway ending spoilers ahead. We might have mostly been stuck indoors over the past year, but at least we didn t wake up on a two-year mission to Mars that we can t leave. That s the fate awaiting unintended stowaway Michael Adams (Shamier Anderson) in Netflix s gripping new sci-fi movie Stowaway. His emergence shortly after the mission s launch also messes things up for the three-person crew of the Kingfisher – medical researcher Zoe (Anna Kendrick), the ship s commander Marina (Toni Collette) and biologist David (Daniel Dae Kim). Michael s arrival accidentally causes irreparable damage to the Kingfisher s life support systems, meaning they don t have enough oxygen for all four passengers. With a potentially fatal outcome ahead for all of them, the crew are forced to face an impossible decision.

But then again, Mars is just sitting there (OK, revolving around the sun) ready to be made habitable to human life. Netflix s new sci-fi movie  Stowaway, now available on the streamer, is set in the near future (they still use the word selfies ) when colonizing the red planet isn t just theory it s actually happening with positive results. It s just that getting humans there remains a big pain in the ass.
