MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Volunteer Memphis needs you for its 5th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Service.
Theyâre inviting Mid-Southerners to sign up for in-person and virtual volunteer opportunities from Jan. 14 through Jan. 18. Theyâll host socially distanced outdoor cleanups and virtual webinars on financial literacy, leadership skills and other topics, including a diversity panel in partnership with WMC Action News 5.
âThat panel is really to talk about diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. As we go through the conversation, weâll talk about how we can better provide opportunities for those in our community who may fall into some of those marginalized communities and help them move forward in life,â explained Volunteer M

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Distribution locations for the COVID-19 vaccine reopened in Memphis Saturday to long lines and more confusion.
Health officials say it’s critical that everyone sign up for an appointment before getting in line to get vaccinated.
The Shelby County Health Department says COVID-19 vaccinations are available for first responders and others a part of the 1a1 group and people over 75 years old who are part of the 1a2 group.
The big story for 2020 is of course the pandemic and how cities, schools and businesses adjusted to the crisis. Still, in looking back there were also other worthy headlines. The volunteers who selflessly made masks for front-liners, police raises and a successful passing of the first ever police millage in Memphis and the strong voice of a young college student from Richmond who wants to see training and curriculum related to diversity and racism introduced at Richmond Community Schools.
