One of the most glamorous birds visiting Northwest Ohio each spring is the sandhill crane. The Biggest Week in American Birding (BWIAB), hosted by the Black Swamp Bird Observatory (BSBO), will present a virtual program on May 6-10 because of Covid-19 restrictions. The BSBO will feature an extensive list of workshops and virtual experiences at many of the birding hotspots around northwest Ohio.
Magee Marsh Boardwalk will be open for limited birding access

CARROLL TOWNSHIP - It can be a tight squeeze to navigate through Magee Marsh Wildlife Area s winding, narrow boardwalk when visitors converge on Ground Zero of Northwest Ohio s spring bird migration.
Thousands of birders congregate at the popular Ottawa County birding site and other Northwest Ohio hot spots to get their fill of yellow-rumped warblers, ruby-crowned kinglets and warbling vireos during the birds migration peak in April and May.
To avoid a similar surge this year, birders will need a permit to access the boardwalk on selected days.
