Representatives of Perkins Eastman — the designer of New York s famed Battery Park City, among other public spaces — on Tuesday night launched a public study to determine how best to create development opportunities for the Cumberland River s East Bank. Metro picks lead firm for East Bank planning

Perkins Eastman has worked in New York, Baltimore, D.C. Cooper’s office last fall said that Planning was looking to hire a consultant to help redesign and repurpose the East Bank’s 338 acres in a way that would better serve its entire community. On Tuesday, the mayor announced the consulting firm will be Perkins Eastman. Along with its work on Battery Park City, that company also has worked on high-profile projects such as Baltimore’s Inner Harbor East and the District Wharf in Washington, D.C. In Nashville, Perkins Eastman will collaborate with local contractors that include Hodgson Douglas, Pillars Development and WSP.
