Flat earther arrested after Watertown Council meeting disruption

WATERTOWN — A local man who espouses his flat Earth beliefs was escorted out of Monday night’s City Council meeting by city police and arrested after he caused a disruption when he refused to stop talking about the theory. During the meeting’s privilege of floor, Donnie Lee Barrigar, 37, of 134 Union St., was warned three times that he would be arrested if he continued to talk about a topic that isn’t about city business. Council members recessed the meeting twice while police officers tried to convince Mr. Barrigar to obey Mayor Jeffrey M. Smith’s instructions to direct his comments to an issue about the city, but he refused.

WATERTOWN — Markesha L.B. Clark, 21, of 309 Mill St., Apt. 506, was charged by city police Monday with first-degree reckless endangerment. According to police records, at about 1:48 a.m. Monday, Ms. Clark drove her 2010 Ford Focus at Alisa Riney, who was on the sidewalk along the 400 block of Mill Street. Ms. Clark struck Ms. Riney, who was injured and put at risk of death after the incident. Ms. Clark was arrested, taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and held pending an arraignment hearing. Dominic A. Rima, 41, of 32749 Elmridge Road, Philadelphia, was charged by city police Sunday with petit larceny and second-degree criminal trespass.

WATERTOWN — A city man has been charged with attempting to kill another man by shooting at him through an upstairs window Wednesday night on California Avenue. Tajemar M. Brandon, 25, was charged by city police Thursday with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Detective Lt. Joseph R. Donoghue Jr. said in a statement Thursday that emergency dispatchers received several complaints at about 8:53 p.m. Wednesday that several gunshots had been heard in the area of California Avenue and State Street. Uniformed patrols responded to the 100 block of California Avenue and found evidence of multiple shots having been fired at 119 California Ave., with a neighboring house at 121 California Ave. also being struck by a stray bullet.

Watertown man charged with assault after police say he choked, punched, kicked woman

WATERTOWN — A Watertown man is facing assault charges after he allegedly choked, punched and kicked a woman over the weekend. Britton T.L. Grant, 30, of 24444 White Road, was charged by city police Sunday with criminal obstruction of breathing, third-degree assault and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. According to police records, at about 4:10 p.m. Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn on Arsenal Street, Mr. Grant got into a domestic dispute with Morgan A. LaSell. He allegedly grabbed her by the neck and choked her, causing Ms. LaSell to lose her breath. He also allegedly punched her in the face repeatedly, causing pain and swelling to her right eye, and allegedly kicked her in the lower back, leaving a bruise.
