Before there was a Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport, there was an airfield where Henry Rosko housed the first airfield in the region in the 1920s. It took brothers Henry and Peter Rosko to get Brainerd’s first airfield off the ground.
Henry Rosko housed the first airfield in the region in the 1920s, according to Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport officials.

Should Brainerd be in the business of parking?
The city’s new parking commission doesn’t think so and told the city council as much.
The commission, made up of residents and business owners, formed in December to address concerns related to parking in downtown Brainerd. After a few months of meeting, the group brought recommendations including discontinuing the lease on the Burlington Northern parking lot before the city council Monday, April 5.
Our Opinion: Cleaning up Brainerd
We welcome the city of Brainerd s efforts to renew enforcement of city codes dealing with excess junk and other debris on city properties.

Recent rains have ushered in a sense of spring cleaning washing away a lot of dirt, dust and other remnants of winter left behind by melting snow.
It’s the time of year when things will start looking clean and new again.
It’s in that spirit the city of Brainerd will begin a proactive approach to code enforcement, specifically targeting excess junk and debris on properties.
We welcome the move, as we’re sure a majority of Brainerd residents do as well. With a new season should come a new look. A clean look.

Due to extremely muddy conditions, the Brainerd City Council agreed Monday, April 5, to install a gate across the road leading to the public boat access off Evergreen Avenue between north and northeast Brainerd.
