An Otter Tail County farm family that lost 1,000 goats and other animals to a barn fire is looking forward to rebuilding their dairy business, following a devastating blaze that broke out the day before Christmas.
An online fundraising effort started to help dairy operators Brittany and Stephen Springer and their five children recover financially from the fire had raised more than $5,000 from 102 contributors as of Monday night.
Brittany Springer said they want to rebuild the barn using the money when the weather permits.

With nine days until Christmas, there’s still time to see the holiday lights that are twinkling across New Jersey this holiday season. Most of the holiday shows will continue through December, and a few go on until January.
As the coronavirus pandemic continues to surge across the state, New Jersey residents seeking a safe but festive outlet for their holiday spirit can visit one of many drive-thru light shows happening across the region.
Each attraction varies in size and scope, but all promise to provide dazzling moments of twinkling lights even on the darkest of evenings.
Nova Scotia fruit farm plans major expansion
Noggins Corner Farm Ltd.,
a fruit farm in Nova Scotia, is hoping to tap into new markets and expand after upgrading its processing and packaging system. Noggins Corner Farm is buying a piece of automated equipment called a CombiSort, tailored to the farm’s products and operation. Noggins grows fruit on 468 acres of orchards in the Annapolis Valley. It also produces cider, apple chips and other foods. Noggins expects to more than double its production with the new machine.
The upgrade also means Noggins will be able to offer more products locally. Noggins currently employs 60 people full time and hires an additional 30 seasonal workers for harvest. The company has received a $600,000 loan from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. It expects the upgrades to be finished in late spring or early summer of 2021.
