Gunfire mars morning in Watervliet

WATERVLIET Shots were fired early Saturday morning near the corner of Ninth Avenue and 19th Street, but there were no injuries reported or victims at the scene, police said.
Police said the shooting, which occurred at around 2:15 a.m., involved two people who know each other. Police did not find the suspects at the scene. Numerous shell casings were found on the street.

ALBANY - A man is recovering after being shot in the leg in Albany.
Police say the 30-year-old showed up at Albany Memorial Hospital late Tuesday morning.
They say he was shot in the area of Elk Street just east of Lexington Avenue.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Albany Police Detectives Division at (518) 462-8039, or submit an anonymous tip to Capital Region Crime Stoppers.

COLONIE – Colonie police Wednesday asked for the public’s help in finding a man who assaulted a police investigator in February after he skipped out on his sentencing last month.
Jerson D. Vargas, 43, most recently of Malta, was to be sentenced Nov. 2 to three years, six months in state prison after he pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in August.
He was free pending sentencing, but failed to return then or on subsequent dates. A judge issued a warrant for his arrest Wednesday, police said.
