  Deaths this week: Margaret Merrill, Robbie Kincaid, Donald Works, Don Burress.   Switzerland County High School held its graduation ceremony for the class of 2011 on a hot, sunny Sunday afternoon, but the large crowd inside the gym witnessed a wonderful commencement.   Jacob Chandler, who graduated form Switzerland County High School in 2008 with academic honors, has graduated from Ivy Tech College with an associates degree in Applied Science.   Jennifer South, a 2007 graduate of Switzerland County High School has graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education.   On a bright and sunny Memorial Day, a large crown of Switzerland County residents and visitors took some time to come to the Veteran’s memorial at the courthouse for annual services.

LCG to reopen two senior centers by June 1 KATC and last updated 2021-05-24 12:54:43-04 Lafayette is planning to reopen two senior centers in June. Lafayette Consolidated Government says that Rosehouse and Greehouse Senior Centers in Lafayette are anticipated to reopen to the public on June 1 pending final approval from Governor John Bel Edwards. Days of operation and programming will be limited for now, they say. LCG has provided a schedule for programs at each facility: Rosehouse: Open Monday 7:30 am - 12:00 pm, Wednesday 7:30 am - 1:30 pm and Friday, 7:30 am - 1:30 pm. Instructors from Rosehouse are paid by participants to facilitate classes. (except bingo)

(Shutterstock) CONNECTICUT As the 2021 Regular Session in Hartford winds down, a number of bills are hitting Gov. Ned Lamont s in search of his signature. The governor signed Senate Bill 263, An Act Reestablishing Club and Nonprofit Club Permits, into law on Thursday. The new legislation was crafted to reduce permit fees for non-profit clubs that been raised by the overhaul of the state s liquor statutes in 2019. I am glad that we were able to correct an inadvertent oversight that raised the cost of a liquor permit to $2,000 for our legions, VFW, and other clubs, said State Sen. James Maroney, who represents the 14th District. These men and women served our country and are continuing to serve our community, and I am happy that we are able to provide them financial relief.
