Rutgers remains a big underdog in its season-opening dual meet against Michigan, but it may not be as trying a matchup as originally expected.
The No. 3 Wolverines’ projected lineup for Friday’s match (7 p.m. ET, BTN) at the RAC in Piscataway does not include No. 1 Myles Amine at 184 pounds or tough 197-pounder Jelani Embree. If the hammers are absent, the No. 15 Scarlet Knights could find themselves in another competitive dual meet against the Wolverines after last season’s thriller at Madison Square Garden.

The Wisconsin RTC is extremely excited to announce the first two matches for the Jan. 20 Underground 3 card! First up, Braxton Amos will wrestle against T.J. Dudley, a three-time NCAA All-American, placing as high as second place at the NCAA tournament. This will be a freestyle match.
The second match is going to be one to write home about! Both wrestlers were NCAA finalists in 2006, one at 125 pounds and the other at 133 pounds. Purdue alum Chris Fleeger and Indiana alum and current Princeton assistant coach Joe Dubuque will dust off their shoes for a freestyle match, which will be a fun one for all. You won t want to miss out on these two hammers when they throw down!

2020 was a year like no other.
And the wrestling community certainly felt the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic with the cancellation of the NCAA Championships and the postponement of the Olympic Games.
High school wrestling is back in full swing, the college season is about to start and big international events are set to start happening in early 2021 leading into the Tokyo Olympics.
Here are my thoughts and reflections with the holidays just around the corner:
Jordan Burroughs is 32 years old, but the four-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist is still really good. He likely will have to beat two-time world champion Kyle Dake to make his third straight Olympic team, but Burroughs is still wrestling at an extremely high level. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

College wrestling fans who are anticipating a COVID-shortened season to begin in January were treated to a quasi dual meet Tuesday night by the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club and Wolfpack Wrestling Club.
In the NLWC Live Event 4, the WWC provided a lineup consisting of all current North Carolina State wrestlers while the NLWC offered one dominated by Penn State wrestlers but with a few club members such as Zain Retherford and Kyle Snyder spliced in for additional entertainment purposes on the freestyle card.
