Senior Centers Open With More Regular Hours Thursday - 6:01 pm

LARSO News:
The Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO) announced this afternoon that the Los Alamos and White Rock senior centers will open Thursday, July 1with more regular hours.
The Betty Ehart Senior Center will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the White Rock Senior Center will open 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The mask mandate will remain in place for those seniors who are un-vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus, and also for all employees.

The pandemic has taught me a lot as a mom and as the leader of a local business. I just celebrated two years as executive director of the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO). This local non-profit runs the senior centers in Los Alamos and White Rock.
After the first year I was dismayed to see that for many years we have been unable to fund wage increases for staff.
Last year I had great plans for additional fundraisers to add to the annual Festival of Trees event. Sadly, none of them had the opportunity to take place. Our online Festival of Trees event is one that helps toward the goal of increasing our bottom line. We always hope it will push us from operating in the red to operating in the black.
White Rock And Betty Ehart Senior Centers Reopen May 6

As you read this article, James and his crew at Aspen Copies are printing the most coveted document in town, the May edition of the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO) newsletter.
This prized possession will be the only document in town that announces the who, what, where, when, why and how of the re-opening of the White Rock and Betty Ehart Senior Center. The plan is to launch seniors back into their habits starting May 6, final approvals pending.
The past week has been a race to the finish and a push to produce the May edition of the LARSO newsletter, the full scoop on everything senior. Seniors can expect some routine like grabbing a cup of coffee, doing a puzzle or using one of their newest laptops to catchup up on email. There will not be a television to watch at first because members have been home doing that enough during the last year.
