Veteran Lucescu defies history to take Dynamo to brink of Ukraine title

KIEV: There was just a hint of a smile playing around the corners of Mircea Lucescu’s mouth when the final whistle blew last Saturday, signalling a victory for his current team Dynamo Kiev over their great rivals Shakhtar Donetsk, the side he ruled for over a decade.
The 75-year-old is in his first season as head coach at Dynamo but that 1-0 win over his old team at the Olympiysky stadium in Kiev means he is just one win away from delivering the club’s first league title in five years.

Des was sent to Vietnam when he was 19. He served in 1968 and 1969 in the 161 Battery Anzac Taskforce.
As Anzac Day drew close, Des and fellow Whangamata retiree Bruce Moore were guests of honour at a presentation by Year 7 and 8 students from Whangamata Area School.

VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) Hundreds of Vista residents are sharing their disappointment after vandals struck Veterans Memorial Park.
Just one look and 61-year Vista resident Don Bartletti fell in love with the local park. I love the tranquility of the landscaping, the walkways, the trees, the sound of the fountain, Bartletti said.
He visits once a month to reflect on his own time in the military and to pay his respects to the son of a family friend: fallen local Vietnam War hero, Ernie Pinamonti.

But, Ron doesn t work alone - he works with his K9 partner who helps to comfort those who suffer from PTSD.
He also works with victims of crime, the elderly who are battling Alzheimer s, cancer patients and more.
