Covered Bridge Festival no longer at Knoebels

Covered Bridge Festival no longer at Knoebels For the first time in the festival s nearly 40 year history, it will now be held at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds. Author: Nikki Krize Updated: 5:57 PM EDT June 30, 2021 ELYSBURG, Pa. The beginning of October was always a busy time at Knoebels Amusement Resort as the park near Elysburg hosts the Covered Bridge and Arts Festival.   But for the first time in the festival s nearly 40 year history, it will now be held somewhere else.   Starting this year, the Covered Bridge and Arts Festival will move to the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds. The festival itself has just really outgrown Knoebels Amusement Resort and I think the family would be the first to tell you that, said Otto Kurecian, Columbia Montour Visitors Bureau Executive Director.

Busy Independence Day weekend planned in Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — With three fireworks shows on different days in different locations, free music concerts, a 5K race, baseball, extended shopping in downtown stores, and a presentation of an old-time USO show, there will be plenty to do in Elizabethton this Independence Day weekend. It all gets started on Friday, July 2, with the monthly First Friday events, then takes off on Saturday, July 3, with the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department once more holding its Independence Day celebrations at the Covered Bridge Park and the Carter County Car Club holding its weekly Cruise-In in downtown Elizabethton. Many downtown stores will have extended hours into the evening on Friday. Some stores will have special sales and some will host artists who will be working on projects in the store. Other stores will have live music.

Where to see fireworks this July 4

For the second year in a row, Johnson City canceled its traditional Pepsi-sponsored fireworks show for Independence Day, this year because of uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic during the event’s planning phases. There are still July 4 celebrations planned for the area, however, that should be safe if current recommended pandemic precautions are followed. Here’s a list of nearby events for crowds to “ooh” and “aah” over. Jonesborough Starting July 3, Tennessee’s oldest town will host the 50th annual Jonesborough Days Festival, culminating with a fireworks display Sunday night. A parade through downtown historic Jonesborough kicks the festival off at 10 a.m. Saturday, with crafts, food, music, storytelling and more following. A MoonPie eating contest will be held at 4 p.m. on the steps of the historic courthouse.
